that's a nteresting ideia, displacements are really easy and fast to work with. Might be a nice chalenge.

Btw results of the special battle will be posted today, later at night (gmt time) and maybe we will start a new battle today also.

I reckon the old style of map battle was the best, a few pictures and poeple trying to make map that look like it.

We did something similar to that in the old In The Style Of competitions (precursor to Design Battles), we had 'Zion from matrix' and a scene from Hero as themes...they were kinda ok..

Yeah, it's great, love that site.

Theme idea: Minority Report (awesome film, interesting blend of futurism and current-day visual styles)

I just have a question about the use of HDR. Should we be able to use this? Some people (like me) Can't use HDR, so our maps may not look as pretty.

How about the, make the sexiest looking office room battle? No? Well, then we could do a snowfort based one, I've been thinking about that one for awhile...

building off of this, we could have challenges that focus on particular skills of mapping, displacements, brushwork architecture, lighting, etc.

Just a thought.

I'd liek my little rube goldberg idea.

we use physics to make a complex machine, which takes unusual steps, to do a very simple task.
