What to do
The idea is to take this template and create a map around it. You can expand on it in all directions, make it part of a bigger structure (or not), as long as the template remains recognisable and be somewhat of a center-piece in your final entry. It has be intergrated into your entry. This also means that there's not much room for altering the shape of the template, it has to remain recognisable. More on that below.
Here are some reference shots that I took for an idea what to do:

Theme
You have complete freedom in chosing a theme or style for your entry.
Some technicalities
It's currently dev-textured and has some surfaces with a lightmap scale of 16, obviously it is entirely up to you to change the texturing and lighting and thus the lightmapscale on the surfaces.
The textures are NOT aligned; that's your job, not mine
I've used the gray and orange measuregeneric textures. The brushes covered in gray should not be altered or removed, the ones in orange allow for a bit of flexibility (f.i. to connect to other geometry).
Gray brush exception: You can increase the number of sides for the arches as long as they remain the same size.
I also did not func_detail anything, I leave that up to you as my choices might not fit your mapping style or direction you take with the template. Beware of this when compiling, vvis can take longer than expected with these round shapes.
I made the template in EP2, I've set up a player start.
Deadline
The deadline will be in three weeks from now on Sunday March 13th at midnight your time.
Template specific rules
What's not allowed:
- resizing/scaling of the template
- removing gray brushes
- rotating the template on all axis
- duplicating it
- altering orange brushes
- adding detail (i.e. trim, destruction, etc.)
General Rules
Three screenshots max
You should use an official Valve Source engine game
Custom content is more than welcome
You can find the full rules here. If you've got any questions about the theme, the rules or the battles in general, either post in this thread or PM me.
Plenty of time to come up with some creative stuff, good luck and happy mapping!
Post W.I.P. shots and don't forget to mark your final screenshots.
