LIMITATION
Background
It's been constantly thrown around in the suggestions thread; a limitation. Lights and textures were thought about, and deemed just plain 'too' limiting; certainly for the less abstract mappers. So I've plumped for physical boundaries.
Goal
To create a map within the limits that I have specified below.
The Limit
The limit *drum roll* is - a 1024x1024x1024 cube. No more. For skyboxes I'm willing to allow a seperate 512x512x512 cube. Here's a pretty picture of the two.
This is limit is absolute. The cube sizes are not interchangeable.
If a prop happens to not be entirely within that cube, that is not against the rules.
Map area BSP on the other hand must remain within the cube. Non-visible borders are able to expand outside of the area.
The outer limits of the BSP are allowed to expand beyond 1024 as long as they are not visible.
To explain this fully: The 1024x1024x1024 is the PLAYABLE AREA. The visible area. The absolute limit. If your border extends beyond this, i.e. you have 16 unit walls around the 1024x1024x1024 area, this is not an issue as they are not playable area.
If in doubt, use your Cordon tool.
Deadline
The deadline will be four weeks from now - one month exactly. That's the 17th of March, 22:00 GMT.
REVISED
20th of March.
Rules
The usual full rules apply, naturally if you've got any questions don't hesitate to post them or PM me. I won't necessarily request you posting your grids but I will be choosing three random participants to send me their grid frames.
Good luck!
Yes, they look pretty large. However, you'd be surprised at just how small they really are. This is all about efficient use of space to maximum effect and abstract art, along with skilled skyboxing. I think you can all do better than a generic indoor room. I want that box filled with awesome!
